Gianni Lamanna was born in Switzerland (Basel) in 1962 His parents emigrated from South Italy.(Polignano a Mare. BA)
Primary School in German language and after in South Italy, Bari till the end of the secondary School. 

After the military service he studied theatre in Milan (‘83 – ‘86) with Renzo Casali who was the director of the group theatre “Comuna Baires” and Dario Fo working with him and Franca Rame as young actor in “Trasmissione Forzata” RAI 1988.

After fifteen years teaching in a Civica Scuola in Sondrio, he tries to learn writing and directing theatre students.

His passion for Commedia dell’Arte (a performing art with the mask) involved him during all the acting career till now.
In the year 2001 with the direction of the famous Harlequin : F. Soleri he plays the role of “Capitano”. 

Between a role and the other as an actor and as a director of small companies, he tries to shake : writing plays, teaching and working with prison inmates of S.Vittore and Opera (Milan).

His way of working with his actors is focused on the technique of identification with the characters.
So the rehears halls are not subject to a system of a normal production because they need many months.
